Unlimited low-speed data for only $8.50 AUD a month on Starlink
As of August 2025, Starlink has replaced the “FREE PAUSE” mode with a new option called Standby Mode, available for just $8.50 per month, that’s around $0.29 per day. You can upgrade to a full roaming service at any time if you suddenly need high-speed data.
In our testing, Standby Mode has been more capable than expected given its claimed to be 500kbps limited. We were able to use Google Maps, make and receive phone calls, send and receive text messages, and run Facebook Messenger along with other basic low-bandwidth services without any real noticeable issues. While some web pages load more slowly, the performance is surprisingly good for the price.
If you know you won’t need the service for several months, you can still cancel at any time and reactivate it later at no cost, making it a flexible and affordable option for low-usage periods.
