This pre-production model introduces one-pedal driving functionality in off-road vehicle modes, along with revised off-road terrain handling logic. It does not increase available torque or override any inverter or motor limits. All inverter and motor temperature protections remain fully governed by the inverterās internal controls.
Instead, this device modifies how the Vehicle Control Unit (VCU) communicates throttle position and CAN bus frames to the motor inverters, resulting in a unique one-pedal driving experience in vehicles off-roadĀ modes enabling a more controlled and refinded off-road use of the BYD Shark 6.
To enable true one-pedal control, a modified accelerator pedal is recomnemded but not required. The first 50% of pedal travel operates on a lighter spring, allowing the driver to easily locate the neutral point. The remaining 50% engages a firmer resistance for precise modulation. This setup ensures the pedal behaves normally during standard on-road driving as well.
All Terrain X Mode can be toggled on or off using a switch. An output wire is provided, allowing end users to connect an open/close switch for convenient activation or deactivation as desired or this can be installed at our All Terrain Workshop in Braeside, Victoria.
At present, All Terrain X Mode is not enabled to work with on-road modes in the BYD Shark 6. However, further development is underway to introduce amplified regenerative braking in road modes. This upcoming feature will enhance regenerative braking without enabling one-pedal operation, ideal for towing or carrying heavy loads. It will assist in brake management and reduce friction brake usage, similar to the reason why a vehicle owner/driver would use a torque lock-up and compression braking in conventional vehicles.
Early adopters will receive the initial pre-production version of the product and may also recieve free hardware exchanges until we reach the production release, postage for these changeovers is however at the buyers cost. In return for their real-world testing and feedback, early adopters will receive the final Version 1 production unit at no additional cost.
The module uses factory plugs so that it can easily be reversed should you decide you no longer wish to use the product, or retun it.Ā Pre production early adoption kits are looking to ship as early as Q1 2026.
At this stage we do not have an expected retail production price of the product. A limited number of early adopter units are available in our early adoption program rate until sufficient testing data has been gathered. The estimated release for Version 1 production is Q2 2026.
